THOUSAND OAKS, California (KABC) –
One of two wind-driven brush fires that erupted in Ventura County on Thursday exploded to more than 10,000 acres in even stronger winds at the start of Friday . About 75,000 homes are under evacuation orders along the Ventura-Los Angeles County border

Rapid fire blew Freeway 101 at Chesebro Road at about 5:15 am and It is established on the south side of the expressway, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. The jump forced the highway to close in both directions at Liberty Canyon Road when about 3 acres are burning and climbing uphill, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The blaze, dubbed Woolsey Fire, began in Simi Valley near the Rocketdyne plant in the Santa Susana Pass.
At the start of Friday morning, the fire had grown to 8,000 acres with a 0% containment. Later in the morning, fire authorities said the fire had grown to over 1
Among the houses ruined by fire, several were in the Oak Park area.
Approximately 75,000 homes were forced to evacuate only for Woolsey Fire, Scott said. No injuries were reported
Ventura County fire officials issued mandatory evacuation orders for several areas. Some of these areas include Saddlebow between Maverick Lane and Morgan Road in Bell Canyon, north of Freeway 101, south of Bell Canyon Road, west of Valley Circle, east of 23 Freeway, north of Kanan Road and west of Lindero. Canyon 23 Freeway, which extends north of Sunset Hills Boulevard and along Erbes Road to Olson Road. The evacuations also include north of Sunset Hills Boulevard, south of Olson Road and west of 23 Freeway. South of highway 101 and north of Mulholland Highway are also included evacuation orders, as well as west of Las Virgenes Road and east of Westlake Boulevard. Mandatory evacuations are also active in the Malibu Canyon area, Agoura Hills, Calabasas and Westlake Village

The destructive flames are ripping in the neighborhoods while the wind gusts reach 30 and 40 mph. Strong winds are expected to decrease between 10:00 and noon.
A second fire that burns in the Santa Rosa Valley east of Camarillo, west of Simi Valley near Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks, was a few miles from the scene of a deadly mass shooting
Nicknamed The Hill Fire , Ventura County fire officials said the blaze is 6,000 acres with a 0% containment starting Friday morning.
Authorities originally estimated the size of the 15,000-acre fire
Facilities could be seen burning from the air when a line of flames closed in a large residential area near Old Conejo Road.
Mandatory evacuations were issued for the Channel Islands of Cal, Vallecito Mobile Home Park and areas of Camarillo Springs and Dos Vientos, authorities said. Point Magu's naval base was under voluntary evacuation orders.
Fire officials estimated that 1,200 homes were evacuated in the areas of Camarillo Springs and Dos Vientos.

Hundreds of Ventura County firefighters and eight oil tankers were fighting the flames on the ground and from high.
There were plumes of thick, white smoke rising above the burn site when strong Santa Ana winds drove the flames amid red flag conditions.
The cause of the fires remains under investigation.
