The Toyota Gazoo Racing development team has been instrumental in refining the management of the car, which has been refined both on public roads and on tracks, including the Nürburgring. Toyota claims that the Supra has greater structural integrity than the Lexus LFA supercar, a lower center of gravity than the cheaper Toyota GT86 and the front / rear weight distribution 50:50. Reaching this last meant pushing the engine as far back as possible under the hood.
The car's style is characterized by a large central grille with air intakes and six-lens LED headlights, which lead to the long and low bonnet that, together with the double-bubble roof, was designed to minimize resistance.
Inside, Toyota claims that the Supra cockpit was inspired by the racing cars, with a low dashboard to maximize forward views and the main controls grouped together. Reflecting its development along the Z4, the interior of the Supra makes extensive use of the BMW paintings.
The steering wheel is covered in leather with three spokes, the seats upholstered in Alcantara are influenced by competitions and a digital display with a 4.8-inch instrument, together with a 8.8 central multimedia display inches that can be operated via a touchscreen or a rotating controller. The boot measures 290 liters, against the 281 liters of the Z4.
The GR Supra will be launched with two trim levels, called Active and Premium. Premium models with higher specifications get the black leather upholstery, a 12-speaker JBL sound system, a head-up display and a wireless smartphone charger.
Built along the Z4 in Graz, Austria, the first deliveries of the Supra GR are scheduled for the end of the summer, with a limit of 900 cars in Europe in the first year .
to the first 90 European customers that I predict will be offered a limited edition A90 – which reflects the chassis code seen on the development car – which will come with a Pale Tempesta matte paint, black alloy rims and a leather interior rear.
