A motorist was arrested after an 11-year-old boy was killed in a head-on collision.
The child was treated by the paramedics on the scene of the accident in Beswick, Manchester, but his injuries died in the hospital.
A gray VW Golf, believed to have been involved in the collision at Albert Street shortly after 18.10 on Saturday, left the scene and was found abandoned a short distance away.

PC Karl Horner, of the Force Forces Investigation Unit, said: "This was a tragic accident in which a boy lost his life, and my thoughts are with his family in this unimaginably difficult time.We have a man in custody, but our investigations continue as we work to establish the circumstances that led to this collision.
"If you think you have seen the driver of the VW Golf Gray around the time of the collision, or if you witnessed what happened, then please contact us as soon as possible. We are particularly eager to talk to anyone who may have dashcam images of the accident or previous events. "
